Merchandiser Overview: 

 

Our client is seeking a Merchandiser to fulfill a range of tasks aimed at optimizing inventory and fostering strong vendor relationships for the company. Responsibilities include attending trade shows, organizing purchase orders, creating visual presentations of seasonal selections, analyzing sell-through data to allocate budgets wisely, and managing inventory levels. The role also includes overseeing purchase order management, conducting physical inventories, and maintaining open communication with saleswomen to ensure their inventory needs are met. The ideal candidate will implement effective communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail in this dynamic role. 

 

Merchandiser Responsibilities: 

 

  • Photograph selections and maintain line sheet and purchase order documentation. 

  • Create compelling Visual PowerPoint presentations showcasing seasonal buys. 

  • Analyze sell-through data to optimize budget allocation. 

  • Collaborate with the company’s owner on manual or electronic order placement and explore new inventory ideas. 

  • Assist in crafting the company’s private label purchase orders and propose innovative development concepts. 

  • Liaise with the PR team to enhance business visibility and provide necessary assets. 

  • Manage checkbook creation, budget allocation per store, and monthly budget evaluations. 

  • Handle internal purchase order creation, confirmation, and processing using various platforms. 

  • Oversee order processing, vendor relations, and resolution of damages and returns. 

  • Monitor sell-through rates, manage inventory levels, and conduct quarterly physical inventories. 

  • Conduct weekly store visits, facilitate jewelry re-assortment, and ensure optimal stock levels. 

  • Maintain transparent communication with saleswomen to meet their inventory needs effectively. 

  • Attend prestigious trade shows and showroom appointments in New York and Los Angeles alongside the company’s owner. 

Merchandiser Qualifications: 

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field is preferred. 

  • Previous merchandising experience, preferably within the fashion industry is ideal. 

  • Deep understanding of fashion trends, styles, and brands. 

  • Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to drive sales. 

  • A knack for visually appealing product presentation and styling. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent multitasking abilities and deadline management. 

  • Meticulous attention to detail to maintain brand consistency. 

  • Familiarity with merchandising software and Microsoft Excel. 

  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address merchandising challenges. 

  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 

  • Adaptability to changing business needs and market trends. 

  • Willingness to work on-site as required for trade shows, showroom appointments, and other in-person activities, demonstrating flexibility and availability to meet the demands of the role.
