We are hiring a Product Development Manager to play an important role and be a valuable contributor to our business.  We are looking for someone excited about working in a high growth, faced paced environment with a passion for designing a path forward.  This position reports to the Senior Director, Product Development and will build key partnerships with the Product and Innovation team as well as cross-functional business groups such as marketing, sourcing, operations and education

This role is also our resident expert on the world of makeup trends, influencers, competitive content and implementing this scope of information into the concepting and briefing of new formulas.

What You Do
  •     Drive day-to-day development of all new color cosmetic and skincare launches from brief to launch
  •     Create external project briefs and strategically brief multiple vendors
  •     Collaborate closely with Project Manager on timeline management and critical milestones
  •     Partner with Senior Director of PD to develop color stories and shade lineups that represent our creative strategy and align with brand business goals
  •     Pull imagery to create physical and virtual mood boards for upcoming launches 
  •     Lead external safety and claims testing. Partner with Senior Director and Marketing to create testing plan and claims
  •     Partner closely with Regulatory team ensuring all relevant formula and ingredient information provided by contract manufacturer 
  •     Gain a deep understanding of our existing portfolio and existing shade lineups. Study and understand Complexion Mapping and update accordingly with new launches. 
  •     Establish and maintain close relationships with all vendors. Guide PD Specialist in prioritizing and scheduling key vendor meetings/ innovation presentations. Ensure recaps are provided to the team and formulas of interest are closely tracked. 
  •     Responsible for completing competitive analyses highlighting relevant trends in color, formula, and new product launches.
  •     Initiate and update Product Development Handoffs/ Product Profiles inclusive of product info, description, key ingredients, etc.
  •     Orchestrate internal testing panel groups for all new launches (from organization of testing samples to survey design and data analysis) with support of PD Specialist 
  •     Strengthen relationships with our education and field teams. Spend 1 day per month in the field with our field teams and customers 
  •     Collaborate with Creative to evaluate / redirect visual assets
  •     Manage and train PD Specialist in key PD skills (formula evaluation, color story development, color evaluation, testing protocol and project management)
  •     Travel to support - formula development, shade development, line trials, pilots and first production 


Qualifications
  •     Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in Product Development for a cosmetics brand
  •     Deep understanding of the specific details and milestones of the Product Development process from product concept to final launch
  •     Passionate about beauty! Dialed into beauty culture and trends
  •     Strong color eye
  •     On-site experience at manufacturers: formula development, shade matching, line trials, production 
  •     Project management experience 
  •     Punctual and professional 
  •     “No task too small” attitude!
  •     Positive personality: able to take on new challenges as they come and to switch gears immediately when necessary
  •     Meticulous attention to detail
  •     Strong skills in anticipating needs 
  •     Comfortable asking questions- a curious learner, a desire to strengthen and expand skill set and knowledge
