Job description

Our client is a luxury RTW brand. They are looking for a RTW & Knitwear Senior Designer who would be responsible for the entire design process from inspiration, color story, sketches, and fabric development, to fittings and final prototypes.

RTW Designer:
  • Driving inspiration and complete product assortments for monthly seasonal collections.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Creative Director on building collection line plans.
  • Create and maintain seasonal inspiration and design sketch boards.
  • Source appropriate fabrics and trims
  • Handoff the sketches to the appropriate factories according to their strength and workload
  • Research and develop exclusive fabrics, embroideries, and prints each season.
  • Work closely with the Lingerie Designer to ensure collections are cohesive and work together.
  • Managing communication and strong relationships with all vendors, mills, etc.
  • Book, manage and oversee RTW development fittings and a clear handoff of fitting comments to the pattern makers or factories. 
  • Adhering to the design calendar to ensure on time deliveries.
  • Work closely with the sales team on exclusive products or changes
  • Request feedback from sales and online to constantly understand best sellers and adjust assortment accordingly.
  • Present seasonal fashion trends for both ready to wear through magazines, influencers, fashion shows, shopping and street style.
RTW Designer Qualifications:
  • 7+ years design experience in advanced contemporary or designer fashion
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design
  • Must have design experience working with laces, silks, boning, and underwire, draping
  • Must have extensive fit experience
  • Experience developing wovens in the NYC garment district
  • Possess high fashion aesthetics
  • Fantastic eye for color, fabric and detailing
  • Excellent flat sketching skills
  • Advanced Illustrator/Photoshop skills
  • Design calendar adherence
