Technical Designer Overview: To own and drive the fit process and point of view from development through production. You will establish
fit standards and maintain consistency across the product offering.
Technical Designer Responsibilities:
-Own the fit approach and approval process for all categories of the collection from development through production. Categories
include wovens, cut/sew knits, swim, and underpinnings.
-Development:
? Collaborate with design during sketch hand off to identify best construction methods to achieve their vision
? Create all tech packs for development including construction details and specs.
? Fit, compile and hand off all development + production comments to overseas factories
? Work closely with sample coordinators for domestic development and production to stay on calendar.
? Have a strong understanding of pattern balance and shape to help advance the development process to production by
providing detailed information/ references / specs to vendors.
-Production Fit/Grading/Process Management:
? Ensure garments are fully measured and prepared for fittings.
? Conduct the fit sessions in office and virtually: work closely with standard fit model to identify fit issues and figure out how to
resolve them; execute or articulate garment pinning/cutting/taping as needed
? Create and oversee the fit schedule to ensure fits are being approved within the given calendar
? Communicate with factories in person or via email re comments, construction questions, and production timing
? Establish pattern standards, fit consistency and approve grade rules
? Identify the appropriate size range for all styles
-Production Standards:
? Create all production fit approval comments, spec standards, TOP approval specs and graded measurements and hand off to
production team or directly to the factory.
? Help suggest fit guide comments to be communicated on site or in store to our customer
? Help establish and improve when needed how we communicate our fit standards to our customer
? Maintain and update development and production fit status and T+A tracking.
Technical Designer Qualifications:
? 5-7+ years in fashion apparel industry required
? Understanding of garment and pattern construction
? Domestic development experience preferred.
? Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills
? Solid written and verbal communication skills
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Share required
? Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
? A natural ability to multitask with strict adherence to deadlines
? Outstanding follow up skills
? Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for apparel business and ability to work effectively as a team player
