Job description

Our client, a Gaming Studio, is looking for Senior Level Designer to join their team. This will be a 1 year contract and fully remote (must be in the US).

As a Senior Level Designer, you will work with the rest of our design and art team to create the places that make up our upcoming cozy, non-violent MMO. You'll be hands-on in Unreal Editor building and iterating on both bustling central areas and smaller chunks of level that are used with procedural generation.

Job Responsibilities
  • In partnership with the art team, design the high-traffic hub areas where players congregate, shop, and receive quests within.
  • Create spaces that are not only fun to traverse and to linger within, but also fun for players to decorate.
  • Leverage procedural terrain and object placement systems to create variety and delight.
  • Work with the engineering team to improve level creation tooling.
  • Work closely with 3D artists to fine tune collision standards in a game where players can “climb anything”.
  • Utilize modular asset kits, all built to the game’s grid, to create various level design structures and unique locations
  • Playtest and help evaluate how to better foster prosocial interactions between players throughout the game.
  • Assist Quest and Narrative designers in environmental storytelling efforts.
Candidate Requirements (not optional)
  • 4+ years of professional game design work experience, including at least 2 years of level design.
  • Shipped at least 1 commercial game in a level design role with a team of 10+ people
  • Strong English communication skills, both writing and verbal. Desirable Skills
  • Experience working on an MMO.
  • Familiarity with the life-sim genre, similar to Animal Crossing
  • Familiarity with 3rd person adventure games.
  • Working experience with Unreal.
