Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a Merchant for Women’s Specials/Sleep & Kids who will support the Creative Director by overseeing the merchandising for all categories in tandem with design and sales team

Merchant Roles and Responsibilities:
  •  Drive the merchandising assortments that meet customer needs and align with overall department strategy
  • Working cross functionally with deign, sales, marketing and production to ensure that customer needs are met while ensuring profitability and resulting in increased earnings
  • Daily data entry in Movex, Nuorder, and PLM uploading and updating style information
  •  Research new business opportunities to ensure that the brand brings in new customers while maintaining its base
  • Oversee projects and ensure their quality of work
  • Create roadmap for Sleep/Kids design team
  • Work with the corresponding sales team to create a roadmap for Women’s Specials
  • Review the linesheets daily/weekly to ensure the line(s) are well merchandised
  • Assign style #s and color names
  • Attend meetings with sales team regarding selling information and comps needed for FY
  • Set wholesale/retail pricing
Merchant Key Qualifications: 
  •  Degree in design or merchandising with strong understanding of retail math
  •  4-6 years of related experience (open to candidates with womens and/or sleep and/or kids experience)
  • Understanding of the contemporary market
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail · Sense of urgency and excellent work ethic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Strong time management skills and ability to stay on calendar
  •  Proficiency in Movex and Nuorder (or related systems), as well as Microsoft Office and PLM
  • General understanding of fabric/color/construction/costing
  •  Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop skills are a bonus but not a must
